The Chain was founded in 2010 by Channel Islands security expert, Carl Ceillam. His career in information security began in 2001, working as a technical security specialist at a Big Four professional services firm. His main disciplines are computer forensics, penetration testing and IT auditing.
In forensics he has led a diverse range of corporate, civil and criminal investigations. His cases have covered contractual disputes, fraud, money-laundering, employee misconduct and security breaches. As a penetration tester, he has (legally) hacked into some of the world’s largest organisations, and uncovered security holes in countless websites. His IT auditing work has allowed him to combine rich IT technical skills with a highly developed sense of risk and control. His audits having included ISO/IEC 27001 reviews, PCI DSS compliance reporting, and data privacy work.
He has served an impressive range of household-name companies and government organisations. His client sector experience includes financial services, utilities, retail, manufacturing and entertainment. Through the media he has advised and informed the public on critical information security issues. He has presented to the British Computer Society and Chamber of Commerce on many occasions.
“I set up The Chain because businesses should have access to specialist IT security services locally. Everyone needs effective IT security, and if an incident occurred, it is reassuring to know that there are experts close at hand that know exactly what to do.”
